2020 IBAM Convention & Trade Show – Postponed

To our valued Members and Stakeholders:

The Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba (IBAM) has been actively monitoring the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) worldwide. It is with careful consultation that we inform you that IBAM is postponing the upcoming 2020 IBAM Convention currently scheduled for April 14-16, 2020 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The safety of our partners and stakeholders’ is a top priority at IBAM. Manitoba public health officials have advised against the social gathering of large groups to help slow the spread of the virus. With this in mind, we are looking to reschedule the Convention at a future date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be refunded for the tickets, dinner tables and vendor booths purchased for this event?

A full refund is being provided to everyone who has already purchased tickets, dinner tables and vendor booths to this event. Refunds will automatically be provided to you shortly via Eventbrite if you used a Credit Card to pay and cheques will be issued for any payments received directly by the IBAM office.

How can I get my CAIB / CPIB Certificate?

The IBAM office will have the certificates available for pick-up in person shortly. Emails will be sent out letting Graduates know the process to receive their certificate. The Awards Luncheon will be postponed. More information will be provided to stakeholders at a future date.

I attend the IBAM Convention to gain Continuing Education Credits towards my license. How can I get the missing hours I need?

IBAM is currently working with our partners to hold additional webinars before the May license renewal deadline to give licensed brokers additional opportunities to gain any missing hours they may have. IBAM already has webinars planned for April and May which provide credit hours. IBAM Members also have access to On-Demand Online Education on the Member side of our website. Please contact the IBAM office if you would like more information on how to access these On-Demand courses.

I was planning to attend the Errors and Omission Mock Trial to fulfill a requirement on my brokerage E&O policy. Is this event being rescheduled?

Depending on any future Convention dates, the standard November E&O seminar hosted by IBAM may be held earlier to make up for the postponed E&O Mock Trial. If your E&O policy required you to attend in April, please contact Katrina to discuss next steps.

Will IBAM still be holding an Annual General Meeting?

The IBAM Board of Directors have decided to continue with the 2020 Annual General Meeting at the same date and time (April 15th at 10am) however the meeting will be held virtually on a webinar platform. Additional information on this specific event will be sent to all members once logistics are confirmed by IBAM.

The 2020 IBAM Convention is being postponed. Have the future dates been set yet?

At this time, our top priority is the safety and health of all stakeholders. No future date has been set. IBAM will assess this situation and provide updates as circumstances evolve.

Do I need to cancel my accommodations?

If you have booked a hotel room or travel directly, you are responsible to cancel those reservations. IBAM will be informing the Fairmont Hotel to cancel any rooms booked by IBAM if our office confirmed your accommodations.
