We had two full days of festivities at the 2024 IBAM Convention, hosted at the Fairmont Winnipeg.
Convention pictures will be featured in the Summer Edition of the IBAM Magazine and on Facebook (coming soon!).
Recap of the Days:
Tuesday was Pre-Convention Day and featured the Graduate Awards Brunch in the morning and an Errors & Omissions (E&O) Mock Trial in the afternoon!
Wednesday started off with the IBAM members only Annual General Meeting; then our first IBAM Jam Session: The Insurance Executive’s Panel, hosted by Peter Tessier, featuring some of IBAM’s Major Partner Executives.
This session was followed by our first rock star of a Keynote Speaker, Ryan Hanley!
Ryan Hanley
is the founder and president of Rogue Risk, a first-of-its-kind “human-optimized” digital insurance agency creating sustainability for small businesses through insurance and risk management.
As a creator, strategist, and speaker, Ryan helps organizations create meaningful and sustainable long-term growth.
His keynote presentations and customized workshops concentrate on implementing leadership, marketing, and sales initiatives within growth-focused, abundance-minded organizations.

The Convention Networking Lunch, was sponsored by SGI CANADA and the afternoon was filled with Company Breakout Sessions, hosted by a number of IBAM’s major partners.

Finally, we finished off Day 1 with the IBAM President’s Dinner and Dance!
Thursday began with our second rock star Keynote Speaker, Anthony McLean!
Anthony McLean
Called a “master storyteller”, Anthony McLean delivers lively, actionable presentations on mental health, diversity & inclusion, and the intersection between them. He’s worked with such leading organizations as PepsiCo, Intel, Danone, Coca Cola, and more. McLean shows audiences how to foster an environment of empathy, acceptance, and mental well-being to enhance DEI work and optimize individual and team performance.
A respected voice in his field, McLean has delivered hundreds of inspiring talks across the world, rocking the stage at conferences, colleges, and corporate events. His clients have ranged from charities and non-profits to Fortune 500s. McLean is passionate about education and credits teachers for making the biggest difference in his life. Delivering research-backed tools and actionable strategies, he leaves audiences inspired to bring their best every day.
McLean has a background in theatre and works actively in the film and television industry. As a screenwriter, he’s currently in development on two feature films. McLean’s first book, All Fired Up: Optimize Mental Health to Ignite Joy and Fuel Peak Performance, will launch in January 2024.

Following this performance was our second Jam Session: the IBAM Broker Panel, hosted by our very own, Grant Wainikka.
We took a quick set break for another Convention Networking Lunch in the Lombard Room and then came back for the MPI Fireside Chat.
The MPI Fireside Chat was followed by our final Jam Session: the Insurance Tech Panel.
The two-day festival finished off with our staple IBAM Tradeshow and Hospitality Suite Night!
