Accounting Manager / Bookkeeper
Corporate Insurance Solutions – Madison Square

The hands-on Accounting Manager/Bookkeeper is responsible for processing all accounting functions; payroll – including complex commission calculations, journal entries, source deductions, ROE’s and T-slip preparation; statutory reporting – including PST, EHT, GST, etc; company financial reporting; budgeting and planning; and ensuring that company procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. The Accounting Manager/Bookkeeper also streamlines processes to create reliable and timely delivery of accounting information and may be consulted regarding strategic planning for the business. The Accounting Manager/Bookkeeper oversees an accounts payable clerk and the reconciliation/payables clerk.

As the ideal candidate you possess:

  • 3-5 years’ Bookkeeper or Accounting Manger experience
  • Accounting diploma or certificate, or suitable combination of education & experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience in all aspects of corporate accounting & financial management, including semi-monthly payroll
  • Financial analysis, budgeting and planning experience
  • Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local legislation and requirements regarding financial records, payroll, and the like
  • Supervisory or management experience
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; other MS Office Suite exposure, including Access
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Strong Attention to detail
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, diplomatically and professionally
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with internal clients quickly
  • Previous Insurance Brokerage experience, including TAM, would be an asset
