Dwayne Smith

Dwayne is the President & Manager of Freedom West Insurance Solutions with locations in Fisher Branch and Eriksdale, MB. He began his career in the insurance industry in 2003 with a position at his mother’s insurance agencies, Fisher Branch Insurance & Eriksdale Insurance. After 7 years in an agency environment for a direct writer, Dwayne & his mother decided to take the leap to buy the book of business they were running and start their own brokerage in 2010.

After becoming the sole shareholder in Freedom West Insurance Solutions in 2014, Dwayne has focused on growing the business and positioning it for the future. While the management of the business takes a substantial amount of his time, Dwayne still enjoys the day-to-day business of providing insurance. Whether it’s Auto, Home, Farm, Commercial, Marine, or Travel; Dwayne is always striving to support, educate, and help his clients in any way he can. After having been part of an IBAM committee for the past 2 years, Dwayne is incredibly pleased to be joining the IBAM Board of Directors.

Dwayne lives in Lundar, with his wonderful wife Kristin and amazing daughter, Arya. They enjoy spending time as a family going on weekend road trips, travelling, barbecuing, and playing board games. Dwayne also enjoys golf, watch collecting, fishing, and hand-tool woodworking.
