Job Description / Duties
Want to make a significant impact in an accounting capacity and work 30 hours per week while doing so?! If your answer is “yes!”, then this may be the opportunity for you! We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of day-to-day accounting, reporting, and financial activities.
Key Responsibility Areas:
• Accounts Payable and Receivable:
o Responsible for accounts payable function which includes processing vendor invoices and payments.
o Process incoming client receipts.
o Review accounts receivable reports, supporting our branches with outstanding and overdue accounts.
• General Accounting:
o Day-to-day accounting activities include:
Prepare bank deposits.
Process daily branch deposits and bank transfers.
Reconciliation of bank accounts, prepaids, accounts receivable, accounts payables, and credit cards.
Assist in the preparation of various financial reports and analysis.
Post daily and month-end journal entries.
Assist with the preparation of government filings.
o Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
o Support the VP Finance and the Administration Division Leader with special projects and reporting.
o Other duties as assigned.
• Data and Record Keeping:
o Maintain orderly document filing systems.
o Ensure all financial records are accurate and up to date.
*Note: this role may have the potential to move to a full-time (37.5 hours per week) role in the future.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Education and Experience:
o Post-secondary education, including courses in accounting or finance.
o 1 to 3 years of accounting experience is preferred.
o Experience with Applied EPIC or other broker management systems is considered an asset.
o Proficiency in Office 365 suite of programs.
Skills and Competencies:
o Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
o Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
o Ability to manage sensitive, confidential information.
o Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The work of this position requires the individual to primarily be on-site, with the possibility of moving to a hybrid schedule as determined by the human resource policies of Winnipeg Insurance Brokers Ltd.
