Kent Cook
Kent is the majority owner of Cook & Cooke Insurance Brokers, a family-owned brokerage operating in The Pas and Swan River since 1906. He is also the founding partner of TIPI Insurance Partners, an Indigenous led company providing property insurance, pension and benefits, and human resource consulting services to Indigenous communities and businesses. TIPI has offices and operations in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia.
Although Kent grew up around the family business, he “officially” began his career in the insurance industry in 1995 in The Pas with the purchase Bernstrom Agencies Ltd. (now Cook & Cooke Insurance Brokers). With the exception of his time spent earning a BA from the University of Manitoba, and then an 8-year career as a Grain Trader for a global commodity trading and grain merchant, Kent has spent his professional life in and around the insurance industry. The past 30 years have been spent growing the business and getting to know the Tri-Community of The Pas, Opaskwayak Cree Nation and the RM of Kelsey. He is passionate about the insurance industry and about growing healthy communities.
Kent’s commitment to his community is very important to him including past and present involvement in The Rotary Club of The Pas, various community economic development organizations and initiatives, coached minor hockey for many years, and continues to enjoy helping with the World Championship Dog Races at the Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival.
Kent lives in The Pas, MB, with the best part of his life, his wife Monica. He has adult twin sons who are both married and live and work in Winnipeg. Kent enjoys spending time with the family, travelling, cheffing up at home, golfing, and fishing the many beautiful northern Manitoba lakes. He also enjoys boating around Clearwater Lake with family and friends.
