One of my child’s daycare teachers lost her partner unexpectedly leaving her with their 4 boys and ages (6,4 and twin boys 22 months) not only were they left with the emotional aspects of this, but the financial aspect was also overwhelming. My friend and I held a photo shoot for local families and did a shoot for the teacher and her 4 boys, we donated all the proceeds to her to help alleviate some financial strain on her and were able to donate almost $2,000.

ONE Insurance: Pulling Together for a Cause
At ONE Insurance, community involvement is at the heart of who we are. This year, our team proudly participated in the United Way Plane Pull, a high-energy event that brought together local organizations to kick off the annual United Way campaign.
Our team, proudly named The Incredible ONEs, came together with determination and spirit to pull an 80,000-pound plane across the tarmac. It was more than just a fun challenge, it was a powerful symbol of our commitment to supporting the programs United Way delivers across Manitoba.
This event launched our internal campaign, where employees from all 29 branches contribute through payroll donations and fundraising efforts. The Plane Pull reminded us that when we work together, we can move mountains (or in this case, planes) for the causes that matter most.

Justin, Westland Insurance
This summer our brokerage setup a tent at Steinbach’s ‘Summer in the City’ and we did face painting for the kids, gave away fun prizes, played Plinko and overall had a fun time. We had a draw going which was free to enter and were giving away a $100 gift card, and some Westland Merch. It was really great to go and see members of our community.

Stefanie, Western Financial Group
This year I was able to use our company’s Good Heart Day to volunteer my day to our communities daycare fundraiser. I was able to spearhead the entire event as it allowed the entire day off. I organized a community bake sale. Collected endless amounts of baked good donations the evening before and set up at our local Co-Op gas bar who was also raising funds for our daycare at Fuel Up days. We were able to sell out of all the baked goods and raised $1,180 from the bake sale alone for my local daycare.
Jada, Guild Insurance Group
I volunteered my time this year at the 4-H Manitoba Provincial Communications Extravaganza in Winnipeg as a judge for 4-H member's public speaking and visual presentations skills. This competition among 4-H members showcases their creativity, empowering youth to develop their self-confidence by presenting in front of an audience. I was honoured to judge Cloverbuds, who are as young as 6 years old and competing at a provincial level!
I have been a previous member of 4-H for 14 years and have been in the provincial public speaking competition many times in my life, winning at the provincial level ten times. I thoroughly enjoy this part of 4-H and and will continue to donate my time to being a judge for this great event.
Kaitlyn, Guild Insurance Group
This Giving Tree Campaign is always one of my favorites. Guild provides each employee with a voucher of $100 to be donated to a charity/cause of there choice. With over 85 employees at our organization, that is over $8500, going back into our community. We look to keep our donations within our community, who will notice the impact. I always choose Paws Crossed Animal and Adoption Centre.
Allison, Western Financial Group
Our Western/Wyatt offices had another amazing outcome supporting Socktober with the Main Street Project! This annual initiative has truly become a tradition for us, and we’re proud to share that over 1,100 pairs of socks were collected and donated to help keep feet dry, warm, and healthy.
Amy, Lewis & Jones Group
At Lewis & Jones, we're more than just your local insurance experts. We're proud members of the community we serve. We believe in giving back and supporting the people who support us. Whether it's donating to local fundraisers, sponsoring sporting events, or taking part in community activities, we're always eager to lend a helping hand.
Our team is passionate about protecting what matters most to our clients while helping our community thrive. We take pride in building lasting relationships, not only through the insurance services we provide but through our ongoing involvement in making our town a better place for everyone.

Diane, Brio Insurance
Staff volunteers from Brio Insurance were very excited to partner with Red River Mutual for a build day in support of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Winnipeg!
Together, both organizations spent a Saturday in October building bunk beds for children in need of a place to sleep. Along with a donation of $5,000, our volunteers were able to build 47 beds in less than 4 hours! Leading up to the build, all Brio locations set up a donation collection box for staff and members to drop off bedding supplies. By the time the build day came around, Brio was able to fill a van with new pillows, blankets and sheets.
Lindsay, One Insurance
Paws Across the Prairies was a month long campaign that was executed out of our Stonewall Branch by no other than Janessa Cramm. The donations we saw were unbelievable! It was so motivating and the timing of it was done at the same time as our Customer Appreciation Events so we saw a heavier flow of customers and donations because of that.
This will continue to be something One Insurance does annually. So proud to be a part of it.
Julie, Rempel Insurance
At Rempel Insurance, giving back isn’t just something we do — it’s part of who we are. Every May, our entire brokerage participates in Wear Grey in May for Brain Tumour Awareness Month, in honour of our late founder, Dale Rempel.
This annual initiative has become one of our most meaningful community traditions. Our local grocery store, Morris Bigway, owned by Pat Schmitke — a true pillar in our community who gives back selflessly — joined in this year with his team and their mascot, Ginger! Throughout the month of May, our team proudly wears our Grey in May T-shirts every Friday, sparking conversations and raising awareness about brain tumour research and the importance of community support.
What makes this campaign truly special is how it continues Dale’s legacy of compassion, leadership, and connection. Wear Grey in May brings together long-time employees, new team members, and families across our region — many of whom remember Dale personally or have their own connection to brain tumour awareness.
It’s a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have — and how a community can carry that impact forward, year after year.
Rob, Ball Insurance
We are participating in the Transcona Biz Holiday Hop. Our brokers are doing a bake sale with proceeds going to our local community food bank, Transcona Food Bank. Baking is not a primary talent of many of our brokers but we are coming together as well as enlisting some more talented chefs in our families to help stock our shelves for the evening.
The Holiday Hop is a market combined with participating local businesses providing spots for warm up, snacks, hot beverages and other miscellaneous activities over the evening. It should be a great event for our local biz zone.

Stacey, Crossroads Insurance
The management team at Crossroads Insurance implemented an initiative called Crossroads Cares this spring.
There are plenty of worthy causes to help! As part of this initiative, Crossroads Insurance wants to support causes that impact our employees, family, friends, and the community we serve. There has been no shortage of amazing ideas brought forward and there are some future initiatives already in the works. Our staff have participated in Christmas toy drives in the past, and most recently a blood donation drive in March. Those who were willing and able rolled up their sleeves to give the ultimate gift, the gift of life.
May is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month – this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart as I was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS in 2015.
When I suggested that we support MS Canada for our Crossroads Cares initiative this past May, everyone was very enthusiastic. As someone who hasn’t always been able to share at work about my invisible illness/disability in the past, this was such a healing and emotional experience for me.
We participated in the 2025 MS Walk at Kildonan Park on May 25th and raised over $3,785 (MS Walk Team Page - Crossroads Cares). It was most certainly a team effort with the social media team working hard to raise awareness about MS, and funds being raised in office through carnation sales & customer donations. Crossroads Insurance also matched money raised (up to $1,000) & we all wore red for World MS Day on May 30th.
Even though MS affects millions of people worldwide, Manitoba has one of the highest rates of MS in the world. Still, many of our staff have not been affected by MS in one way or another. Which just made their efforts even more impactful to people like me.
