Mario Fiorino, B.A, LL.B, M. ED is a Senior Counsel for the Insurance Bureau of Canada. As an author, educator, lawyer and former education manager for the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario, Mario brings a unique perspective to the current challenges confronting all insurance professionals.
Program Objectives
As of July 1, 2018, Cannabis possession and consumption will be legal in Canada—immediately impacting all aspects of property and casualty insurance. In the lead up to this date, issues are being discussed as they arise and decisions are continuously being made regarding the many minute factors that this legalization will affect.
Recommended for all insurance professionals including brokers, underwriters and claims professionals.
Participants will:
- Explore the New Regulatory Landscapes at the Federal (production of marijuana), Provincial (sales and distribution of marijuana) and Municipal (by-laws / taxes) levels
- Review the Risks Associated with Possession and Use of Cannabis in the following Contexts:
- Automobile Liability; Social and Commercial Host Liability; Condominium Management and Directors Duties; Personal & Commercial Lines Underwriting; Commercial Liability for Producers / Distributors; Consequential Impact on Trademark and Intellectual Property
